PRESENTATION TOPIC: What is Guided Wave Testing Method?
The presentation will include basic theory of guided wave testing, field testing procedure, how to read an inspection report, defect detection method, spatial resolution, operating frequency, defect size, and applications of GWT.
Speaker: Dr. Sang Y. Kim of Guided Wave Analysis LLC
Dr. Kim has 29-years NDT experience in researching and developing new techniques, sensors, and software in guided wave testing (GWT), ultrasonic testing (UT), electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT), eddy current testing (ECT), and impedance spectroscopy technology. Level 3 and trainer of MsS Guided wave testing, PCN Level 3 in Guided Wave Testing, ASNT NDT Level 3 in UT and ET. He worked at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and working for Guided Wave Analysis LLC for developing sensors, procedures, and software in guided wave testing method. Granted 14 US patents about GWT applications, 2006 R&D 100 award with MsS heat exchanger tube development, and 2011 ASNT outstanding paper award with “Improving Guided Wave Testing of Pipelines with Mechanical Attachments.”
